I made risotto last night with brown rice and butternut pumpkin. As I started to prepare it, I jokingly remarked that making risotto was awesome because the recipe calls for wine and it takes ages to cook. So by the time you sit down to eat you are already a little bit tipsy.
However, brown rice takes QUITE a bit longer to cook than regular white rice. I started cooking at 6.30pm. We didn’t sit down to eat until at least 9pm and, by the time it was ready to serve, I was definitely a little bit tipsy. Then I realised… I’d forgotten to put any of the wine in the risotto.
